Important Notes and FAQ's - October 2017

*Sign Up Genius link will be available and live at 6pm on Tuesday, Oct 10th. Selections must be made on or before Saturday, Oct 14th. Link will be available on the home page.

Please note that our tournament dates are as follows

 Bill Batten Memorial- Nov 3-5

Silverstick - Nov 24-26

Pink on the Rink - Dec 8-10

Dairy Queen Challenge - Jan 5-7


NEW*Midget players will be allowed to fulfill their own required hours with TIME CLOCK SHIFTS ONLY. Player MUST be familiar with the clock in all arenas in order to do so. All other shifts will still need to be fulfilled by those over 18.

 

*Time slot selection is done via email, NOT sign up genius AFTER time slots have been posted to the website– once time slots are posted for each tournament, parents will send an email to [email protected] with their preferred shift and the schedule will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Final schedules will be posted under each tournament of the volunteer tab.

 

*If a change of shift needs to be made, it is up to the parent/family to find someone to make that switch with. Once any shifts have been changed, send notification of the change to [email protected] so the schedule can be adjusted.

 

*The best way to access the most current information available from the association is to sign up for notifications from the home page of the website.The ONLY way to receive and email/text update is by following the directions below.

 

On the bottom left of the website, click either email or text message (depending on your preference).

Select the box for News Articles from the organization row. You may also select your players team(s) if you wish to be notified of anything posted to their home page.

SHMHA Volunteer Structure    **2017-2018 Season**

 

Participatory Commitment

A bond cheque in the amount of $500 and dated Feb 1, 2018 will be required for each registered player. These cheques will be collected by team managers on or before Oct 1. 

Cheques will NOT be cashed unless hours are not completed.

Participatory hours are for the benefit of the players within South Huron Minor Hockey. SHMHA hosts 4 very successful tournaments each season and the participation of all families is a major contributor to that success.

One shift will need to be completed for EVERY child registered within SHMHA. The existing structure changed for the 2016-2017 season and we will be maintaining that structure for 2017-2018.  Parents/Guardians will be able to sign up for positions and dates of their choosing on a first come, first serve basis in October 2017.  Shift lengths will vary from 4-6 hours and duties will be similar to previous years (set up, arena helper, scorekeeper, timekeeper). 

Parents who wish to do so, may create an account on the sign up genius website in advance of the initial shift selection. This can be done at

Once initial selections have been made and the individual tournament schedule finalized, specific time slots will be announced and selected via the volunteer tab at southhuronminorhockey.ca

 Additional changes may be made prior to the start of the season by recommendations made through the association survey. Updated information will be posted under the Volunteer tab at southhuronminorhockey.ca

 Further information will follow at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season.

Each team will ALSO be responsible for the following throughout the season:

 a) Time keeping for all home games,  b) Score keepers for all home games,  c) Sweater washing for entire season,

**The person who is working must be 18 years or older**
