Bantam B Sabres Win Gold at Pink on the Rink
The Bantam B girls hockey team went undefeated in 5 games to capture the gold medals at the recent Pink on the Rink tournament played in South Huron.

All of the team came together and played fabulous hockey all weekend to beat Mitchell 4-1 in the opener. Leah Clausius led the way with a hat trick and Morgan Lewis had the single. In the second game Charlotte Finlay recorded the shutout in a 3-0 blanking of Lucan. Scoring for the Sabres was Leah Clausius, McKenna Robinson and Phylicia Krainz who had just returned to action from an upper body injury. On Saturday morning the Sabres blanked Wilmot 1-0 with Clausius scoring and Finlay with back to back shutouts. In the semi final game it pitted the Sabres against Mitchell and the girls squeaked out a 2-1 victory. Mitchell's goalie stopped almost everything we through at her and it paid off late as she started to tire from the barrage she faced. McKenna Robinson scored both goals in the win which met they were going to face Lucan for gold. Lucan came out hungry and strong to grab the lead but the Sabres kept plugging and tied the game midway through the third on a goal from Clausius. After three periods it was tied and the five minute overtime solved nothing so that meant a 3 player shootout to decide a winner. Robinson scored in the shootout and goaltender Charlotte Finlay stopped all three attempts sent her way to capture the championship. All the team played very good hockey and contributed in their own way to win the championship commented the coaching staff. For a lot of these girls this was a repeat of the Pink on the Rink tournament 2 years ago win they won their Pee Wee division in a shootout. Congratulations Bantam Sabres!!!
