Langton Tournament Champions!
Friday night's tilt pitted the Sabres against the home town Langton 2 team and the Sabres feasted! An 8 to 0 final with two goals each for Matt McCann and Kellen Park, singles to Harley Edwards, Braydon Mossey, Tyler Parsons and Boston Droulliard. Assists for Parsons and Chase Boyd.
Game 2 Saturday morning versus Langton 1 ... Sabres were again not gracious with the hosts and drubbed them 10 to 2 ! Droulliard had 2 goals and an assist, Edwards had a hattie and 2 assists, Park had 2 goals, Cole England with a goal and an assist, Mossey with a goal and an assist, Parsons with a goal Scotty Knoblauch with an assist. Saturday afternoon's game was versus a big, strong Aylmer team ... the lads took it on the chin and lost 5 to 3 which put them 2nd in the pool and set up a rematch in Sunday's gold medal game versus Aylmer - coach McCann was quoted as saying "now we have them where we want them, they'll be over confident in tomorrow's final" when asked about the strong Aylmer squad. Points in Saturday afternoon game - Edwards with two goals, Mark Ford with a goal, Knoblauch with an assist. So, Sunday's battle for gold was set ! The lads would not be denied on Sunday - it took three full periods, a 5 minute OT and then a shoot out but the Sabres stayed strong and were rewarded with a 2 to 1 victory ! Jordan Goodfellow scored the shootout winner and Knoblauch and Ford also scored in the shoot out ... Colton Strang and Alex Morley were awesome in goal all weekend and the Sunday final was no different - Strang stopped all but one Aylmer shooter ! The regulation goal was scored by Mossey, assisted by Edwards ... what a game ! What a weekend ! Thank you boys for all of the excitement - so proud of all of you !
