SOUTH HURON SABRES NOVICE REP. BOYS - ALL ONTARIO OMHA CHAMPIONS!!!

The South Huron Sabres Novice Rep. boys are All Ontario Champions!  Going undefeated in OMHA playdowns starting with a 4 game sweep of the Ilderton Jets, a 3 game sweep of the West Lincoln Wrath and a 3 game sweep of the Tavistock Titans.

In front of an incredible crowd of local supporters the Sabres took the first 2 home games 9-1 and 6-2 before winning the final game on the road 3-2 in overtime.  This win clinched the series and the OMHA title!




In the finals, the South Huron Sabres were pushed throughout the series by the talented Tavistock team.  A complete team effort including great goaltending were on display to claim an OMHA championship! 

Game 1 - The Sabres were down early 1-0 before erupting for 9 unanswered goals! For a 9-1 win and a 2 pointto 0 series lead.

Game 2 - The next day welcoming Tavistock back to our home ice, the Sabres scored 2 early first period goals, the Titans managed to pull within one but the Sabres added 2 more in the second period and 2 in the third to cruise to  a 6-2 victory and a 4 point to 0 series lead.  This game was highlighted with strong 2 way play from the entire team chipping in 11 assists on the 6 Sabres goals. The goaltending was huge with many timely saves.

Game 3 - The Tavistock Titans would not give up with out a fight. The Sabres lead 2-0, but the Titans managed to score 2 goals late in the third period to force overtime.  With 3:47 left in the extra frame the Sabres scored a powerplay goal to win the game and the OMHA Championship!!.  Again, a combined team effort, strong 2 way play and timely saves from our goaltending was the key to victory!

The OMHA All Ontario Champion Novice Rep. Sabres would like to thank everyone for their support on our home ice and on the road.  The boys will remember this special accomplishment for a life time.  All coaches, family & Friends are very proud!
 
The Sabres will now continue to play for the Shamrock League "A" Championship vs St. Marys, with the series tied 1-1, the team will play Friday March 24th at 7:30 at the South Huron Rec. Center, Sunday March 26th at 6:00 in St. Marys and Monday March 27th at 7:00 in Exeter (If Necessary)
