StMarys came to huron park this past saturday for a huron-perth matchup that i personally had circled on the calendar.

This one stung....having played in stmarys myself i always want to beat them and we came up just short. The game was riveting end to end action from the drop of the puck. It was everything you could ask for a major novice game: skating, scoring, few penalties and lots of offside. Even a pulled goalie to try and tie it up late but the hockey gods were not on our side.

The scoring was back and forth but on this particular saturday the kids from the stonetown got the better of us. We played pretty well as a team and where never really out of the game with the scoring by period being 3-1,1-1 and 3-2 in the third.

This tells me one thing that i've been stressing all season. WE ARE A TEAM THAT STARTS SLOW!!! i'm just as much to blame as the kids as its our job as coaches to motivate and have the boys prepared to play when the puck drops. I would say though, as most of you reading this have been in our dressing room, there is not alot of hockey talk going on pregame.

With that being said, rest assured that in a few years they will be talking about worse things than pokemon, nintendos and annoying siblings.

Our scoring was done by flipper boyle(3), dangles regier(1) and 1/2 tonne tilley (1) which brings up another sore spot.  We need a more balanced scoring, it seems like these three lads are scoring the bulk of our goals. We cant always rely on these three to carry us through a game. However, they are indeed gamers and make it fun to watch.

1/2 tonne in particular played a well balanced game over all. Hes a force in the offence and can swing the momentum of a game in any shift. Aven is also a great back checker and is very good at playing the center position. He'll somehow always be where he needs to be to make a play and that is why he was rewarded with the player of the game. His skill might come from Kenny 1 tonne but i'm not sure about the hockey sense!! haha

Another big test this weekend against the Predators, lets get back to playing .500 hockey.

practice tuesday and thursday, game saturday at 3.

see yas at the rink.
