We had a tournament in Tillsonburg this past weekend and the action on the ice was almost as good as the action at the hotel. I wont bore you with the details of the hotel shenanigans other than to say we are very blessed to have possible the best karaoke team in South Huron Minor Hockey. i"m sure our judge Jeff "simon" mason will agree!!
The weekend started playing the host team in Norwich of all places and the boys did not disappoint. From the drop if the puck the boys were engaged in the game. WIth a strong 5-2 performance the boys were off and running. the player of the game was given to Warrior Glavin, his strong play along the boards and ability to get open in front of the net.
The second game of the weekend was friday afternoon against Dresden and man could they fly. One young man was just a stud getting breakaway after breakaway on us but our boy Oh henry stood tall stopping wristers, clappers and deflections. we ended up winning the game 7-4 with an empty netter. 1/2 tonne was asked to shadow the stud from dresden and did a great job at that so naturally he got the player of the game.
Saturday morning with foggy heads and tired legs we went to the bar for some bowling and lunch to prepare for our only game saturday afternoon against langdon. We had already punched our ticket to the semifinals so this was a non stress game for us coaches. we ended up winning 7-0, the boys played well in both ends of the rink. Caden Coward might have played his best game of the year and was rewarded with the belt for his efforts.
Sunday was against our rivals from lambeth they came to play. nice close game for the first half then the wheels fell off and they got a couple quick ones. we lost 6-2 but the score does not reflect the game at all. They are good and we took the defeat with our heads held high. The Grocer Lavier was named the player of the game. He started out as part of our goal tending tandem and has transformed himself into a forward with a nasty wrister. Good game Gideon!!
