Pink on the Rink Champs!
The Atom B girls took to their home ice for the annual Pink on the Rink Tournament.
They started out the round robin play with a 3-0 win against Huron Heat early Friday morning, and took a loss 1-0 against Lambton Attack. The girls battled back to compete against the Twin Centre Hericanes, Saturday morning where they came out with a 2-0 win.
Semi finals had us facing Twin Centre Hericanes again, Saturday afternoon, in Hensall. The girls had to battle a bit harder to come out with the 1-0 win- which secured us a spot in the finals.
Sunday afternoon these 12 Atom B girls took to the ice in "our barn". Fans filled the stands to see if these girls could beat the only team that had beat us in the round robin play. Cameron Finkbeiner scored half way through the first period to set the tone and build the motivation and confidence for the rest of the game. Strong goal tending by Bria Passmore kept us in the game with multiple glove saves. Time outs were used by both teams as the game remained 1-0 until the final 40 seconds. Finkbeiner took the face off in our end after Lambton had pulled their goalie. Not only did she win the face off, but also iced the puck right into Lambton's empty net to secure the win.
Throughout the entire tournament, our team only gave up 1 goal! Every girl showed up, played hard, and demonstrated the same grit and determination in that final game that we've seen in other tournament play. When they need to, these girls can dig deep and come out on top! Pink on the Rink Champions!
