STMARYS GM 2
This past sunday december 13th we travelled to stmarys for the second game of our 4 game series. When the schedule came out a few weeks ago i was quick to check that my 10-3 Buffalo Bills were not playing on this particular Sunday afternoon. I soon remembered that good dominating team get to play in prime time so the schedule wasn't an issue and off we went to the stonetown.
Once we figured out how to enter the arena i knew would come ready to play, we had a pretty good practice Thursday and Saturday so the boys were ready.
we opened the scoring a couple minutes into the game and never really looked back. The DJ Dman (might need a new handle) opened the scoring with a partial breakaway to notch his first goal of the short season. The flow of the first period was back and forth with the visiting team getting a couple more quick goals. Flipper Boyle had 4 goals on the day and might need a new nickname as well because he has been firing wristers with the best of them....top cheese!
The boys were really working hard and that was quite evident by the heavy breathing and water consumption on the bench between shifts. This can only mean two things, they are indeed working hard and they need more conditioning.
the Grocer Lavier made numerous key stops to keep us ahead in the game and got redemption on a stellar save during a penalty shot. He continues to amaze me during games with is quick pads and readiness to compete. We don't always see that in practice.....he's a gamer apparently.
Another side note on the game was Uncle Ben Crossan who continues to impress me with his defensive play. He doesn't always look the prettiest out there but he does one hell of a job. It always impresses me watching him come off the ice with that huge Uncle Ben smile, Keep up the great work Benny!! We had a good laugh that he even joined the rush and was behind the stmarys net one shift!
The D are possibly pinching and joining the rush too often but if we continue to get back in time to help Gideon, I'm all for it.
Other goals were scored Cosmo and Jean Claude, assists were not recorded but i know the passing is there and the boys deserve credit for working the chip around like they have been. its fun to watch when they breakout of our end and make a few successful passes to work their way down the rink for a scoring chance.
great game fellas, i could pump tires all afternoon but i want their helmets to fit tomorrow night, that's all for now.
