South Huron Sabres U11 Rep team attended the Bill Carnochan Memorial tournament in Seaforth and came home with the gold medal!
The team came out of round robin play with a 3-0 record.
The boys dominated game one against Central Perth 9-1
Saturday's game was a tight 2-1 victory. Strong defence and pressure down low was the difference between South Huron and Lucan.
We controlled the game against Shelbourne with a comfortable 4 - 0 win. The boys took advantage of entering the zone, pass back to the defense and crowd the net - good things were happening.
Final game against home town Seaforth.
It's been a long whole since these young men have been in a tournament, let alone the finals. We started off a little flat footed, and after period one we were down 2-0.
With positive conversations between periods, the boys kept their chins up and battled hard.
While battling penalty problems our PK worked hard to keep the puck outside the dots. With two goals in the 2nd we were back in the race to win!
Seaforth competed with great goaltending and forward momentum, but our endurance is what prevailed with a goal in the 3rd to finalize a 3-2 victory.
With hard work, and perseverance the U11 Sabres were able to take home the A championship.
They currently remain undefeated this season as they jump into Wingham Silverstick.
Game 1 against Saugeen Shores a 5-3 win. Next game is Thursday against Listowel.
