Tournament Format Update
DQ 2026 Divisions – March 12, 2026
Tournament Format Update

Due to the late withdrawal of teams, we have had to adjust the format for 2 of our divisions. Please read the below information carefully and direct your parent group to do the same.

If you have any questions or concerns, please have your head coach or manager reach out to [email protected] before the start of the tournament.

The DQ Challenge is a points tournament with points awarded in the following manner for Round Robin games.

11 points ONLY available per game
2 points for winning a period, 1 point for tying a period
4 points for winning a game, 2 points for tying a game
1 point for a shut out WIN
**No additional point will be awarded to either team for a 0-0 tie

Elimination games (seeded, quarter, semi and finals)

Overtime for elimination games will consist of a 5 minute sudden victory period with 3 skaters plus a goalie for each team. A penalty during an overtime period will result in the opposing team adding a skater. If the score remains tied after the 5 minute period, a shootout will occur with 3 shooters per team. If the score remains tied after 3 shooters, a sudden victory shootout will take place. Each player must shoot once before any player may reshoot.
Shooters will go at the same time.

Time Outs will only be available in Semi and Final Games – Sunday

U9/U13/U18 – 12 team division

3 pools of 4 teams

Each team will play against the other teams in their pool and score point based on the below. The team with the most points in each pool will move on to Semi Finals on Sunday. After the top teams have been removed from the pools, the next highest in points (between all 3 pools) will be named as the ‘Wild Card’ and will also move on to Semi Finals on Sunday.

**Please note if the Wild Card team comes from Pool C, opponents and times may be adjusted to avoid previous match ups.

U11 and U15 – 10 team division

Each team has been scheduled for 2 round robin games randomly. Once these games are completed, point scores will be used to ‘seed’ each team and determine opponent and time for their next game. The first 2 seeds will move directly to a quarter final game. 4th and 5th seeds will play 8TH and 9th seeds and the winners will move directly to semi finals.

Quarter finals winners will move to semi finals.

**Please note that semi finals opponents and times may be adjusted to avoid previous match ups.
