Bantam B's LLFHL West Division Champs
Needing only a win or tie in the final game versus Kincardine the Sabres tied 1-1 to clinch the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League West Division playoff champs.
Leading 3-1 in a 4 point series by virtue of a 3-2 win in game 1 at home and then travelling to Ripley and playing to a scoreless draw on Saturday meant an exciting final was in store for game 3. South Huron buzzed the Kincardine goalie the first period to no avail and the score remained 0-0 after 1. Then early in the second South Huron scored on a goal by Megan Morrissey with assists to Leah Clausius and Phylicia Krainz. The lead was short lived as 3 minutes later Kincardine scored to knot the game at 1-1 after 2 periods. The 3rd period was again a nail biter as both teams traded scoring chances trying to take the lead but the strong netminding of Charlie Finlay kept the opposition at bay. With time running down (not quickly enough) the girls hung on for the tie and clinched the series win 4 point to 2.
The girls now advance to the Tournament of Champions for the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League in Oshawa March 27th and March 28th. Congratulations girls on a great playoff run and Good Luck at the Tournament of Champoins and then the OWHA Provincials in April in Toronto.
