Refund/Withdrawal Policy (updated March 2024)

SHMHA’s refund policy is not intended to be punitive. The policy has been created in order to protect all SHMHA members and their teams. 
Team numbers are determined prior to the season start and withdrawals after the season starts (first day of evaluations for each division) can have a detrimental impact on a large number of players and as such the refund policy has been revised to reflect this.
We understand that the circumstances of a withdrawal are different for individual families and all requests will be considered and approved by the respective registrar and Executive board, if necessary.

Refund Requests

All requests for refunds/player withdrawals must be sent in writing (email accepted) to the appropriate registrar:

All refund requests are subject to verification by the SHMHA Treasurer. Any refunded amounts are issued via cheque by the SHMHA Treasurer to the name on the account OR through the online system and back to the credit card that the payment was made on. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing of refunds.

Non-refundable Administration Fee

There is a non-refundable administration charge of $25 for each registration.

Refund Amounts

Refund amounts are determined by the division and number of days beyond the season start date. Season start is determined as the first day of evaluations for the level/division, regardless of whether the player attended evaluations.

2024 Season Start Dates

  • U11 - U18 (Girls): April 19, 2024
  • U9-U21 (Boys) and U9 (Girls): estimated to be September 7, 2024

  • 100% of registration fee/less $25 admin fee

  • 0% of registration fee (No refund)

  • Participatory hours must be completed

U5/U7/U9 Refund Amounts

  • Prior to August 1:
    100% of reg. fee/non-participatory cheque voided/less $25 admin fee
  • During the months of August/September:
    75% of reg. fee/non-participatory cheque voided/less $25 admin fee
  • During the month of October:
    75% of reg. fee/less $45 insurance fee/non-participatory cheque voided/less $25 admin fee
  • During the month of November:
    50% of reg. fee/less $45 insurance fee/non-participatory cheque voided/less $25 admin fee
  • During the month of December:
    25% of reg. fee/less $45 insurance fee/less $25 admin fee/participatory hours must be completed
  •  As of January 1 - no refund
