Perkes Memorial Tournament B Division Runners Up!

The lads were in Seaforth on the weekend for a great tournament put on by Craig Metzger and his group of volunteers! Well done! Game 1 Friday morning against BCH ended up in a 6-2 loss for the locals - sorry, I don't have a game sheet so and I can't recall who scored - the game sheet, I believe was destroyed by Coach McCann ... things got better Friday afternoon as the Sabres took on West Lorne and won 1 to 0 in a game where they had so many shots on net i lost count at 40 ... lone goal to number 97, Harley Edwards.
Saturday morning versus Lefroy at 830 AM (do these tournament organizers not realize that some parents like to sleep in on weekends?) ... the lads put it to the Lefroy's and won 4-2 ! Goals to Braydon Mossey, Tyler Parsons (2) and Matt McCann and Scott Knoblauch with an assist. So that win put the gang in second place in the Driscoll Division and B pool for playoffs.
Sunday morning B SF versus Plattsville - at least they didn't start this one until 1110 AM ... a hard fought contest and the locals took it 5 to 3 ! Harley Edwards scored a pair and Tyler Parsons notched the hattie - a single assist awarded to Mark Ford (who had just returned from vacation in Florida and looked too tanned to play hockey but was great nonetheless). So, this set up the Sunday afternoon final versus Arran-Elderslie ... the Sabres fought hard against a very strong opponent but fell short in a 5 to 2 loss in the B final. Scoring were Harley Edwards with a goal and an assist and Boston Droulliard with a goal ...
Two tournament wins in one season would have been special but the boys should be really happy with another excellent tournament result at any rate ! Now it's on the playoffs starting tomorrow night ! Go Sabres !
