"Day of Champs" CHAMPIONS
Your U11C ladies brought championship effort to a championship game. After finishing number 1 in league standing at the end of regular season play, this group of girls began their long, hard fought battle for an opportunity to compete in Day of Champions.

With some twists and turns along the way this group kept finding a way to keep them in the hunt to be playing the most meaningful league play at the latest part of the season. After finishing up round robin play they found themselves seated in 2nd place with the top 4 advancing to semi final action. This game would have these girls facing Woodstock Wildcats with the Sabres having home ice advantage. This would be a game  that would require fast and intense game play to come out on top.  The girls brought just that. With everyone contributing and the final buzzer sounding the 3-0 win, secured a "Day of Champions" spot against North Middlesex Jr Stars.
The gold medal game was what both sides were expecting. A hard fought, intense matchup. Your ladies came flying out of the gate with Payton Hendrick opening the score 27 seconds in assisted by Lily Verberne. Was an incredible start but North Middlesex pushed back found the net with 4:06 left in the 1st. The game was back and forth with chances at both ends. Goalie Mya McBride held the fort down for us. North Middlesex kept pushing and got the go ahead goal a minute left in the second frame. With a 15:00 minute 3rd period your Sabres found a sense of urgency pushing back Blair Geoffrey scoring the equalizer assisted by Addy Dobson at 13:38 left in the 3rd. Both side battled hard and it was still tied at the end of regulation. The first OT was back and forth but your Sabres played with grit finding themselves heading to double O/T 3 on 3. With the high paced game showing the exertion on the girls, Mya was our brick wall. Giving us the chance to get some offensive zone pressure. The young athletes never quit. Lily Verberne driving the net like a bull in a china shop put the game winner across the goal line with 3:24 left. 3-2 WIN!!!! This was a game that required a full team effort and the girls answered that call! CONGRATS on an amazing season team!
