On this past rainy saturday morning the team traveled to Ilderton.  This was the last of the half games for their young storied careers.  Its time to play some serious hockey with scores, penalties, faceoffs, icings, offsides, and line changes. I think we are ready but time will tell. All we can do is hit the ice skating and let the pucks fall where they may.

The game itself was awesome to watch and coach as the boys played really well from start to finish. Everything they have learnt and are learning will hopefully carry over for years to come.

The defense was stellar at clearing our zone, getting the pucks to the forwards, keeping the puck in the offensive zone, sticking with the man in front of  our net and generally being aware of their surroundings.

The goalie was able to make crucial stops when needed, cover the puck for a stoppage, and was vocal in helping the defense know what was needed.

The forwards were clicking as a team as well and all playing great together with different line combinations. Sure it would be nice to keep two lines together every game and let them gel as a line but thats not happening with 11 skaters.  i think it actually makes them better players having to adapt to different wingers and style of players to play with.

As i said before, everyone had a very strong game and the player of the game could have went to just about anyone. However, one particular young man stood out in the coaches minds.  He was able to pocket a few goals, a few assists, play his wing effectively, help out defensively and just generally play a great all round game. Sam "the silent Sniper" Mason was awarded the player of the game. Sam manages to do all the little things that make him  a great hockey player, hes not flashing but when the game is over, you can bet his number will be on the game sheet. Great game Sam.

practice tuesday and thursday with a game at home saturday at 3 pm.

see yas at the rink.
